Yesterday, the story was about fear in the AI sector. This morning, Nvidia gave its answer: one hundred and fifty billion dollars.
That's the size of their new share buyback, the largest in history, a massive capital deployment fueled by the AI boom. But at the exact same time, OpenAI is hitting the brakes, scrapping a new model release over safety concerns. This isn't a mixed signal, it's a clean split down the middle of the market.
This is the bifurcation I've been tracking. There's the software layer, wrestling with ethics and risk. And then there's the hardware layer—the silicon—which just keeps getting paid to build the infrastructure. It’s no surprise semiconductors are the leading sector over the last week, up a median of six and a half percent.
So the question isn't which headline is right, it's where the money flows next. Nvidia was up nearly two percent in yesterday's session, but other big AI names like Meta were weak. I'm tracking that divergence on korra dot finance. Watch whether the rest of the AI complex follows Nvidia's capital, or OpenAI's caution. That's the trade.
